Prominent hand veins and tendons result from loss of subcutaneous fat on the back of the hands. Hand rejuvenation transfers fat to the back of your hands, which can restore a more youthful contour. A consultation with Dr. Dec will help determine if you are an appropriate candidate for hand rejuvenation and help you understand the risks and benefits of surgery.
Excess fat is taken from other parts of your body and is injected through very small incisions concealed in natural creases on your hands. The procedure takes approximately one hour.
After surgery your hands may feel minimally tender. Dr. Dec will prescribe medications to reduce pain and risk of infection. Patients typically return home the same day.
Bruising and swelling of the hands are normal and usually take one to two weeks to resolve. You may resume mild activities the day after surgery and strenuous activities after one month. Some of the transferred fat may eventually disappear. You will see the final result, a more youthful contour of your hands, after two weeks.
