An eyelid lift is a surgical procedure that tightens loose skin and removes bulging fat around the upper and lower eyelids.  The procedure can make you look younger and well rested.  A consultation with Dr. Dec will help determine if you are an appropriate candidate for an eyelid lift and help you understand the risks and benefits of surgery. 

An upper eyelid lift is performed through an incision concealed in a natural eyelid crease.  A lower eyelid lift is typically performed through the back of the lid and leaves no visible scar.  The procedure takes approximately one to two hours.

 

After surgery, your eyelids may feel tender; cool compresses will minimize discomfort.  Dr. Dec will prescribe medications to reduce pain and risk of infection.   Patients typically return home the same day.

 

Bruising and swelling are normal and usually take one to two weeks to resolve.  Sleeping with your head elevated on two pillows will help reduce swelling.  You may resume mild activities the day after surgery, return to work after one week, and resume strenuous activities after one month. You will see the final results, looking younger and refreshed, after one month.  After surgery the eyes look natural and the expression of the eyes remains the same.
