Arm Lift
An arm lift is a surgical procedure performed to improve the contour of the arms. It is commonly performed to counteract the effects of aging or after weight loss. Often it can be combined with another body contouring procedure such as a breast reduction or breast lift. A consultation with Dr. Dec will help determine if you are an appropriate candidate for an arm lift and help you understand the risks and benefits of surgery.
During an arm lift excess skin and fat are removed from your arms and the remaining skin is repositioned. The incisions are designed to hide on the inside of your arms. The procedure takes approximately two hours.
After surgery your arms will feel tender. Dr. Dec will prescribe medications to reduce pain and risk of infection. You should expect to have drains after surgery. Patients typically return home the same day.
Bruising and swelling around the inner arms are normal and usually take two to three weeks to resolve. Scars soften and fade over the course of several months. You may resume mild activities the day after surgery and resume strenuous activities after four to six weeks. You will see an improved arm contour immediately after surgery, which will continue to improve as you heal.
