Following your breast reconstruction you may decide to proceed with nipple reconstruction.  Nipple reconstruction can be performed as a nipple tattoo alone or as a minor outpatient procedure, which creates an area of projection on the reconstructed breast.  Recovery time is minimal and most women can return to work the day after the procedure.  When healing is complete, the reconstructed nipple and surrounding area are tattooed to recreate the areola.
